Job Title: Reproductive Justice Event Organizer

Hours: 15-20 hours/week; in person; Temporary

Duration: March-September 2022

Salary: $17/hr, and $150 Personal Development Fund

Asian American Organizing Project (AAOP) seeks a temporary, part-time Reproductive Justice Event Organizer to lead and host community events with our base of young Minnesota Asian Pacific Island Desi American (APIDA) and LGBTQ+ community members. This position will coordinate and plan three community events that will creatively engage, and provide education on reproductive justice. The position reports to the Gender Justice Organizer. Duties: 

70 % is dedicated to event and logistical planning and implementation

  • Organize a panel of speakers to share their experiences around reproductive health and wellness, and navigating abortion care and accessibility
  • Organize a Q&A with health providers with extensive knowledge and experiences working with APIDA communities on reproductive health and wellness, and Health advocates who have extensive knowledge and experiences working with youth and young people specifically in areas of advocacy, support and patient rights
  • Organize a creative community event that amplifies reproductive wellness and justice 
  • Coordinating meeting/event logistics, scheduling speakers, outreach and promotion of the events, and reviewing budget expense
  • Provide a summary report and recommendations of the completed events

30 % is dedicated to Community organizing and engagement

  • Communicate and recruit AAOP’s base of supporters and volunteers, and new potential supporters and volunteers for community events hosted at AAOP 
  • Work and build relationships with AAOP’s partners, and new potential partners
  • Maintain Gender Justice program’s supporter, volunteer, and partners’ database

Experience: 1+ year(s) event planning and implementation, and community engagement working with youth and young people, and with APIDA communities.
