Job Title: Phone Canvasser (Seasonal)
Hours: 10 – 20 hours a week; flexible. Some weekend hours required
Salary: $13.50/hour
Asian American Organizing Project (AAOP) is hiring a team of phone Canvasser to outreach to young Asian (18 – 35 years old) residents and voters in the Metro area. Outreach efforts are primarily through the phones to our constituents to provide awareness and resources about the Election and the 2020 Census, and to conduct community education and protection on the two main issues. The position starts as soon as possible until filled. You’ll be working in an office environment and may work remotely if needed.

Duties:
- Election and Census outreach on the phones.
- Gauge community members’ level of awareness of issues and barriers to civic participation.
- Voter & census education and sharing access to election information and materials
- Gather voter and census pledges
- Attend phone bank trainings, meetings, and debriefs
- Sustaining a Peer to Peer learning environment
- Report to the Phone Canvasser Organizer

- Community outreach, engagement, education & recruitment
- Active listening and communication, interpersonal and people skills, and asking questions
- Navigating conversations with young API voters and residents
Knowledge Gained:
- Electoral process and issues affecting MN Asian communities
- Non-partisan electoral & civic engagement
- Asian cultural nuances
Experience: No experience needed, but experience is welcomed. All you need is a willingness to learn and help out your community!

- A plus if, ability to speak, read or write Asian languages: Hmong, Vietnamese, Karen, Khmer, Lao, and Tagalog.
