Our Abortion Awareness & Advocacy PhotoVoice was created in November 2022 by Gender Justice Coordinator Michelle and Abortion Support Research Fellows Beryl, Unitas, and Gao.
What was originally planned to be a Participatory Action Research (PAR) project on abortion support and access in Asian American communities evolved into this campaign after realizing the need for more space and time for our community to openly discuss and share experiences with abortion. In order to center our Asian community, we pivoted and developed this Abortion Awareness & Advocacy PhotoVoice to share our community members’ opinions and understanding of abortion care. Our goals throughout this project and the original PAR project remain the same: to destigmatize abortion care and foster community support and solidarity.
