Asian American Organizing Project (AAOP) plans to register voters in St. Paul to celebrate the national holiday.
St. Paul – September 10, 2019 – On September 24, 2019, Americans will celebrate National Voter Registration Day with a massive 50-state effort to register voters before Election Day this November.
While 2019 is an off-year election, it’s important that every eligible American voter should be able to vote for their local elections. In St. Paul, City Councilmembers are up for election and these local representatives often make decisions that impact our communities directly. National Voter Registration Day is the right place to start by getting registered.
AAOP is proud to be a National Voter Registration Day partner and part of the national movement. On September 21st, AAOP will reach out to community members to register them to vote and inform them on the upcoming Census at their local grocery stores (more to be added):
- Sun World, St. Paul, all day
- Ha Tien, St. Paul, all day
- Good Deal Oriental, Minneapolis, all day
- Sun Foods, Brooklyn Park, all day
- Golden Lion Supermarket, Brooklyn Park, all day
- Northside Oriental Market, Robbinsdale, all day
On September 24, AAOP will expand their outreach to college students across student campuses in the Twin Cities:
- Highland Park Sr. Academy, Minneapolis
Founded in 2012, National Voter Registration Day is designed to create an annual moment when the entire nation focuses on registering Americans to exercise their most basic right – the right to vote. More than two million Americans have registered to vote on this day since the inaugural National Voter Registration Day.
