Hours: 5 – 7 hours per month

Reports to: Organizing and Partnership Director

Organization Summary Asian American Organizing Project (AAOP) is a non-partisan organization led by and for young Asian Minnesotans in the Twin Cities. Through our grassroots organizing efforts and programming, we aim to develop young Asian community leaders to resist oppression and co-create a more just future for their families, schools, communities, and cities. 

Who are we looking for? We’re looking for a passionate individual that cares deeply about their community and loved ones that desires to create an impact and make a difference in the world. This individual works well in teams but can also take lead on a project and work independently. We’re looking for a candidate that is responsive, communicative, and able to manage multiple project deadlines. This individual identifies as Asian Minnesotan youth and/or engages with Asian Minnesotan youths.

Position Summary The Youth Summit Leader is responsible for supporting the designing and implementation of the Asian Youth Justice Summit through in-person strategic sessions, youth relevant insight & feedback, outreach and communication to other youths and participating in consistent team meetings. The Youth Summit Leader will work closely with the Communication & Media Coordinator to ensure that the Asian Youth Justice Summit is co-created with youths for youths.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Strategic Sessions The Youth Summit Leader will participate in monthly in-person strategizing sessions with all staff and team and provide insight and feedback on best practices on ensuring that the summit is accessible to youth and young people in terms of communication, youth and young people turnout and the interest and needs of youth and young people in community spaces. 
  • Outreach & Communication The Youth Summit Leader will co-lead in developing and implement tactics and approaches to ensure that communication and promotional materials are reaching youths and young people. Participate in committee in person meetings & discussions.
