VOTER ED

ELECTION ORGANIZING WITH AAOP

AAOP's programs and community organizing efforts started in 2015 to break the unproductive, perpetual voter engagement from external parties with our Asian communities. Since the, over 700 volunteers and supporters have helped us break that cycle through engaging year-round on elections and voter education, organizing on youth-related social issues and concerns, mobilizing and funding our Asian community partners on the 202 Census, and rapid response during the pandemic, and providing social change funds for youth-led initiatives.

Our path forward is to create systems change to address root problems, sustain the momentum of the Asian youth vote in a healthier democracy, and create change that values youth leadership and knowledge for an equitable and just future. The positive impact we want to make for a generation of young Asian Minnesotans are:

  • increase in political consciousness,
  • will and power,
  • fostering a household of intergenerational Asian voters,
  • and sustaining places of belonging and leadership for young community organizers
