Job Title: Get Out the Vote Phone Banker

Hours: 15 – 30 hours a week; flexible and seasonal

Pay: $13/hour


Asian American Organizing Project (AAOP) is hiring a team of seasonal, part-time Get Out The Vote phone bankers to outreach to young Asian (18 – 35 years old) residents and voters in Minneapolis and St. Paul about the 2017 local Election. Outreach efforts are primarily through the phone to our constituents to provide awareness and resources about the election, and to conduct voter education, information, and protection.   • Targeted Election outreach, voter education and reminders through the phone
  • Attend phone bank, and script training
  • Coordinate languages assistance & transportation
  • Report to Community Organizer

Skill Sets Developed:

  • Community outreach, and engagement
  • Active listening, interpersonal skills, and communication building skills

Knowledge Gained:

  • Issues affecting MN Asian communities
  • Non-partisan electoral & civic engagement

At least 1-2 year experience or if no experience, willingness to learn:

    • local election, civic engagement, and community outreach
    • knowledge in non-partisan, voter registration guidelines and legalities
    • Data compliance and privacy
  • Strong commitment to civic engagement, community organizing, and empowerment of underrepresented Asian communities
  • Strong commitment to economic, racial, and gender justice
  • Self-starter, excellent communication skills, good time management, and meeting deadlines
  • Enjoys meeting and interacting with new people, and people of all background and identities
  • Works well in challenging environment both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to stay on task and problem solve
  • Ability to work in non-English speaking communities
  • Ability to speak Asian languages is a plus; Hmong, Vietnamese, Karen, Khmer, Lao, Mandarin, Hindi, and Tagalog.
  • Asian language(s) writing skills is a plus
